Mr. Comerford was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, where he also earned his undergraduate and Juris Doctor, and has since focused his practice on serving the needs of those fellow members of his community. Mr. Comerford graduated cum laude with a dual major in political science and European studies from Canisius College in 2004. Thereafter, Mr. Comerford attended the State University of New York at Buffalo where he received his J.D. in 2009. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York. During law school, Mr. Comerford served as a law clerk at the United States Attorney's Office and Federal Public Defender's Office in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Comerford joined The Tarantino Law Firm in 2010. Mr. Comerford's professional memberships include the Erie County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Western New York Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Comerford was named as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Mr. Comerford's practice is developed on a background of defense litigation, including medical malpractice, personal injury, nursing home negligence, and premises liability. From that background, Mr. Comerford's practice has evolved into estate litigation within the Surrogate Court and the mediation of those matters when necessary. He also provides appropriate guidance and direction in the planning stages for the creation of a will, trust, health care proxy and power of attorney.
Mr. Comerford is also knowledgeable on guardianship and proceeding under Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law on behalf of the person in need of protection. Through Article 81 proceedings, he has sought the appointment of a personal needs and/or property management guardian to act on behalf of the incapacitated individual who is unable to care for his or her own personal or property needs.
